Jaimie A. McKean is an associate with Cooley Manion Jones LLP. She is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on civil litigation matters including contract, trademark, copyright, employment, real estate and business disputes.
Ms. McKean works with partner Christopher J. Cunio and has assisted him in representing the following clients:
- a prominent businessman involved in litigation concerning his purchase of a major shipyard from a government agency at foreclosure. After prevailing on summary judgment at the Federal District Court, Ms. McKean and Mr. Cunio together prevailed on appeal in the First Circuit Court of Appeals. The decision was reported in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (see M.L.W. No. 01-196-06) and on WestLaw (451 F.3d 1)
- an international corporation prosecuting and defending numerous trademark infringement claims - in one of these cases, Ms. McKean and Mr. Cunio together prevailed on summary judgment. The decision was reported in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (M.L.W. No. 02-073-06);
- the managing partner of a Limited Liability Company in a dispute with his partners who were claiming millions in damages arising out of a real estate development project. Ms. McKean and Mr. Cunio together prevailed on summary judgment. The decision was reported in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (M.L.W. No. 12-127-06) and on WestLaw (2006 WL 696689).
- After obtaining summary judgment on behalf of an international manufacturer of high-quality adhesive products, Christopher J. Cunio and Jaimie A. McKean won a judgment for their client in the amount of $426,486.98 against a competitor company for using its website to infringe on their client’s trademarks. Mr. Cunio and Ms. McKean also secured a permanent injunction enjoining the infringing company from any further use of their client's trademarks or any other similar terms. See Judge Lasker’s ruling in our client’s favor. This judgment was then affirmed on appeal and is reported on Westlaw (540 F.3d 56).
Ms. McKean is a member of the Massachusetts and American Bar Associations, the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA). She is admitted to practice in all Massachusetts state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ms. McKean was selected by her peers for inclusion in the publication New England Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2008 and 2009.
Ms. McKean received a B.A., cum laude, from Framingham State College in 1998 and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School in 2003 where she was a member of the Suffolk University ATLA Trial Team.
