Patrick T. Jones

Founding Partner Patrick T. Jones has been a trial lawyer for thirty-two years and works on substantial personal injury cases. He manages the contingent fee practice at Cooley Manion Jones and has tried medical malpractice, product liability, construction site, eminent domain and general liability tort cases. His practice has also included real estate, securities, probate, insurance and commercial litigation.
Mr. Jones is currently licensed to practice law in the federal and state courts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Since 1983, Mr. Jones has maintained an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell National Law Directory, the highest rating available for legal ability and ethical standards. In 2004, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 Boston Magazine surveys of 35,000 Massachusetts Bar Members rated Mr. Jones as one of the Top 100 Super Lawyers in Massachusetts.
A survey of 63,000 New England Lawyers by New England Super Lawyers Magazine rated Mr. Jones one of the top 100 Super Lawyers in New England in 2007, 8 and 9.
Mr. Jones was selected by his peers for inclusion in the publication Best Lawyers in America in 2006, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Since 2009, Mr. Jones has been listed in two categories: personal injury and medical malpractice.
Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly selected Mr. Jones as one of its ten "Lawyers of the Year" in 2005.
Mr. Jones was President of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys in 2005-2006, and currently serves on its Board of Governors. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the American Board of Trial Attorneys, Board of Governors, Rhode Island Association for Justice, a Fellow of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. He has lectured on various trial issues at local law schools and has chaired and lectured at Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education seminars and at Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys seminars.
Mr. Jones spends a portion of his professional life serving on the boards of non-profit corporations both inside and outside of Massachusetts. He served on the Board of Regents at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio from 1995-2001, and currently serves on the school's Board of Visitors. He served on the Board of Directors at Catholic Memorial School of West Roxbury, Massachusetts from 1997-2005, was Chairman of the school's Board of Directors from 1998-2000 and Vice-Chairman from 2001-2004. He has served on the Board of Trustees of St. Sebastian's School, Needham, Massachusetts since 2003. He has served on the Board of Directors at Citizens Energy Corporation, Boston, Massachusetts since 2000.
Most recently Mr. Jones was elected to the Board of Governors of the Rhode Island Association for Justice.
Mr. Jones was born in Ithaca, New York on May 10, 1951. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and was educated at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, graduating in 1969. He attended the National University of Ireland (University College, Dublin) in 1971-1972, and graduated magna cum laude from The College of the Holy Cross in 1973.
Mr. Jones attended Boston College Law School, graduating cum laude in 1978. At Boston College he was a member and Editor of its Law Review.
Mr. Jones lives in Boston and Brewster, Massachusetts with his wife Nell.
